Higurashi no Naku Koro ni

I removed a lot of text from the original scan for this Higurashi "Kai" season wallpaper. I love the little maid costumes so I went for a background setting just as girly and fitting for them. The ribbons were traced from some Cardcaptor Sakura scans, but I did the sheets and the rest of the room around the girls, so I didn't use a reference. The end result is almost poster-like ^^

This Higurashi poster with Rena and Mion was great to start off, though vertically set. I angled the image to better suit a desktop and expanded the background by adding more lines and shading to create additional folds in the sheets.

The original scan needed a lot of repair, so after doing that, I continued with the original setup and created mossy walls using paper textures and photomasks of stones. I traced the prison bars as well from the original scan, and used testures to dirty them up as well. And the blood is all there for the drama! ;D

Hehe, not exactly what you think when you think of Higurashi, eh? Still! I did like the happy set up in the original picture, so I kept with that, and re-CGed the image as well as re-created the stairs. I also used a collage technique and masking, making the trees from a variety of different scans.
