I have to admit, this wasn't the ideal picture to work with, mainly due to the fact it would have to be a right-side oriented design, but the cool images of Ulquiorra are few and far between. I made the background based off of screen shots and scans from the manga of the Aizen's domain, Hueco Mundo. I matched the color scheme to Ulquiorra and did the digital painting in the same style the character was colored in. It turned out well enough, but I feel like I was scraping for filler towards the end! XD

The scans from the Bleach 2007 calendar are a bit difficult to work with due to the fact that they're so heavily textured! But vectoring the scans just makes them more bland, so I decided to work with the texture instead of get rid of it. I vectored and dirtied up the ice-dragon for the background though, and added some effects to bring more action to what would otherwise be a portrait pose.

The original image, texture covered and all, came from the BLEACH 2007 poster calendar. I love those things. Anyhow, to keep the texture theme, I went for an abstract look that was grunged up and cut up. I used a lot of subtractive masking to add a 2D kind of depth. The borders were such a hassle though, cause I totally forgot I was designing for so many different resolutions ~_~

So the idea behind this collaboration was pretty much a "Dual Duel" because the characters just look like they're posing before a face-off. I drew in the neighborhood based off the manga and then we took turns texturing and adding to it. If it was a wall, we used stock photos of walls, and in that way, everything is true to what it represents.

So like, Bantam and I had this brilliant idea to make a dual screen wallpaper. Mainly because he likes to sell me on the "benefits" of two screens, i.e. watching anime/gaming and talking to people at the same time...

BLEACH is just so stylish <3 I had this cool picture of Ichigo from one of the 2005 calendars that beckoned me to make a wallpaper. I used a lot of textures from things I made and scanned in, and the finish was the title-- I just love how Kubo Tite always plays around with it, so I decided to have a go at it ;D
